FA8A61N is a current-mode switching power supply control IC that can directly drive power MOSFETs. Despite its compact 8-pin package, it has a wide variety of functions, making it ideal for saving power at light loads and reducing the number of external components, thereby enabling the configuration of space-saving and cost-effective power supplies.

- Low standby power
- Incorporates a frequency reduction function to improve efficiency in the mid-load range. (Can adjust frequency reduction FB voltage using external component constants)
- Switches to burst operation at light loads to achieve low standby power consumption.
- The operation mode can be switched between normal mode and power-off mode. (Achieves low standby power)
- Incorporates a startup circuit with a 500 V withstand voltage. (Achieves power savings for the startup circuit)
- Various protective functions
- Incorporates overload protective function (latch stop)
- Incorporates an overload detection value correction function based on the AC input voltage.
- Incorporates a latch mode shutoff function using an external signal.
- Incorporates an overvoltage protective function (Vthovp = 25.5V typ.)
- Incorporates a low voltage protective function (Vvccoff = 6.5V typ.)
- Incorporates an overheat protective function (Tohp = 137ºC typ.)
- Incorporates a soft start function. (Tss = 11ms typ.)
- By setting the minimum frequency at 25 kHz, it prevents operation at audible frequencies
- Achieves low EMI using a switching frequency jitter function.
- Incorporates a DSS (Dynamic Self Supply) function.
- Incorporates a drive circuit capable of directly driving power MOSFETs. Output current: 0.5 A (sink) / 0.5 A (source)
